A1: Exit to the N1 in the direction of Carvalhos/Pedroso cut off from January 16 at the Carvalhos junction due to improvement works

BCR - BRISA Concessão Rodoviária informs that the exit from the A1 to the N1 in the direction of Carvalhos/Pedroso, from the Carvalhos junction, in the north-south direction, will be closed for 100 days, starting next Thursday, January 16, for improvement works.

This interruption is part of an eight-month contract that will repair and rehabilitate the bridge at the access to the National Road 1, over the exit branch to Carvalhos, and consolidate the slope that exists in this area, improving safety and comfort conditions for commuters. 

Only the exit from the A1 to the N1 in the direction of Carvalhos/Pedroso will be closed, and there will be some additional restrictions on traffic, but these will not mean that other roads will have to be closed.

As an alternative to closing the exit for the N1 Carvalhos/Pedroso, tree detours will be implemented, duly signposted on site:

Detour west, via Canelas:

Exit at the first branch of Nó A1/A29 (Nó da Jaca), and continue on the A29 until the exit for Vilar Paraíso/Canelas and at the traffic circle take the 3rd exit onto Via Heitor Carvalheiras, until the next traffic circle and continue towards Rechousa, taking the 2nd exit. On this road go straight on until the next traffic circle, take the 2nd exit onto Rua Sra. do Monte (former Nacional 1) and continue towards Lisboa/Pedroso.

Detour east, via Vila d'Este (Nó da Jaca):

Exit at the second branch of the A1/A29 Node (Nó da Jaca), signposted Hospital/A32 Ol. Azeméis and follow the A29 to the second exit, signposted Vilar Andorinho/Hospital.  At the traffic circle, take the 3rd exit towards Rechousa/Jaca, then turn left onto Rua de Jaca. At the end of Rua de Jaca, at the junction with Rua Sra. do Monte (former Nacional 1), exit to the left and continue straight ahead.

Nó da Feiteira detour:

Exit the A1 onto the Nó da Feiteira towards the N1 Carvalhos/Grijó. At the traffic circle, take the 3rd exit towards Zona Industrial and Pingo Doce Grijó, and at the next traffic circle take the 3rd exit and rejoin the A1 - Autoestrada do Norte, in the direction of Porto, until the exit for the N1 Carvalhos.
